You must log in before you can start using the LSA. At login, the application verifies your identity, checks to see what parts of the application you can access, and connects to the database.
A password expires automatically after 90 days of issue. If you try to log in using an expired password, the system forces you to change the password and navigates to the Change Password screen.
To Log in to LSA:
- After starting the application (see "Starting the Application"), the Login screen appears, as shown in Figure 3.
Figure 3: Login Screen
- In the User ID field, enter your user name. A clerk's user ID and password are set up by the agent Primary Location Manager (PLM) or authorized Secondary Location Manager (SLM).
NOTE: The User ID and Password fields are case sensitive (the application recognizes lowercase and uppercase letters as being different). User IDs and passwords must have the correct combination of uppercase and lowercase letters to log in.
- In the Password field, enter your password.
- If you are running the LSA on a Windows machine, in the POS ID field, enter the Point of Sale identification number (POS ID). The POS ID, which is unique to a sales location, is created when the agent is enrolled in the system.
- From the Training drop-down list, select YES or NO to indicate whether or not this is a training session.
NOTE: When the application is in training mode, sales can be made, and receipts generated, as if the application was fully functional. However, any transactions made during a training session are not saved to the database. In addition, the word "Training" is printed on all licenses and receipts. -
Click Login.
The application verifies your entries and connects to the database. If your login attempt fails, check what you entered into the text fields and try retyping your user ID and password. If the application still cannot connect to the database, see "Troubleshooting Login".
When the application successfully connects to the database, the Main Menu screen appears, as shown in Figure 4.
